Dairy Free No More!

This weekend I decided to test out my Dairy free diet by shocking my system with an over dose of dairy. It started innocently enough… I had a cracker at a school parents party on Friday night that turned out to have “butter milk” in it. I thought I maybe seemed a little more congested on Saturday morning, but it was only a small cracker… could I really be that sensitive to dairy?

Dairy Free for 1 Month

Yep, it’s been one month since I decided to start a dairy free diet. So how’s it been going? Well, the good news is I didn’t have any of the really scary dairy detox symptoms I found described other places on the internet. I will admit that it hasn’t been easy, and there’s been some digestive issues, but nothing too unpleasant.

But the question is, has it helped any? Read the rest of this entry »

My first attempt at Mile Repeats

I couldn’t sleep last night… my mind was racing with all kinds of ideas about how to make Sweat365 better. We’re working on some really exciting things and can’t wait to tell you all more about them… and as a result I’m full of energy.

I also have been really congested the last couple days.  I’m still holding strong on my dairy free diet, and I think I may be coming up to a breakthrough, because my body seems to be reacting in an aggressive manner to guard itself against something… I am hopeful that it’s fighting off the last lingering bits of the dairy toxicity, and soon I will come out the other side.

The point is, I took some Sudafed last night to try to help with the congestion, and that coupled with my excess energy meant I woke up at 4:59 am this morning and couldn’t get back to sleep… so what do you do when you’re awake at 5am? Well, if you don’t live on a farm where there’s work to be done at that time in the morning… then… going for a run seems like a perfectly reasonable thing to do. Read the rest of this entry »

Non-dairy Diet Still on Track

One week into my non-dairy diet and I’m doing fine.  I’ve been a little relaxed on my exercise as I’m trying hard to save my fitness focus for preparing to qualify for Boston. This means that although I’ve come down a little from my “sitting on my butt for two weeks straight after my ironman recovery period” weight of 148.5, I’m still a couple pounds over my preferred fighting weight.

However, the change in diet wasn’t about weight… it was about congestion… so how’s the dairy withdrawal going you ask? Read the rest of this entry »
