CompuTrainer - Manual ERG @ 200watts

Posted by Brad Hefta-Gaub under: Cycle.

This is an “endurance” level ride. What’s very interesting is that if I put 190watts of load on the CompuTrainer, my hear rate settles in to 127-128. If I put 200 watts of load, my heart rate climbs to 131-133. And if I hold 210watts, my hear rate starts to climb to 138-140 range. So clearly, right now 200 watts is where I break from “effortless” to “hear comes effort”.

My goal is to push this up to 240watts before September. 20% gain. Can I do that? This would probably be a lot easier if I wasn’t also trying to get my Marathon pace to drop by 11 minutes.

About Brad

Me in 2002 - 200lbsThis is my fitness blog. Some people who knew me a long time ago may wonder, what the heck I'm doing writing a blog about fitness. Many of them wouldn't imagine that I'd have anything to do with fitness. You see, up until age 34, I treated my body very poorly. I sat around at home, at work, at play. I ate junk food and lots of it. And the result was what you'd expect 5'4" and 200 lbs with 36% body fat. (more...)
