Lap Swim

Posted by Brad Hefta-Gaub under: Swim.

Well, today I confirmed what I had suspected before. The Garmin 910xt although pretty good at detecting lap swimming distances can get confused and count phantom lengths that never happened. I made a point of counting my laps, and I swam 2,000 yards. But the Garmin thinks I swam 2,150. 6 lengths of the pool that never happened. I’m not sure if it’s just my form… that maybe I’m such a sloppy swimmer that it thinks I’m turning when I’m not… but I know this means I need to do a better job of tracking my pool distances if I want them to be accurate.

About Brad

Me in 2002 - 200lbsThis is my fitness blog. Some people who knew me a long time ago may wonder, what the heck I'm doing writing a blog about fitness. Many of them wouldn't imagine that I'd have anything to do with fitness. You see, up until age 34, I treated my body very poorly. I sat around at home, at work, at play. I ate junk food and lots of it. And the result was what you'd expect 5'4" and 200 lbs with 36% body fat. (more...)
