CompuTrainer: Sluggish Z1/Z2

Posted by Brad Hefta-Gaub under: Cycle.

Man I felt wiped out. I just didn’t have it in my when I got on my indoor bike trainer and tried to crank out some miles. My legs felt sluggish, I felt like I was giving it my all, but my heart rate and watts output were telling a different story.

My normal “endurance”/Z2 effort would be a HR of 135-140 and watts of 200-240. But I felt like I was putting out a “Temp”/Zone 3 effort at HR of 120bpm and 150watts. Ugh!

Today I ate more protein than normal (140g vs ~90-100g) and less carbohydrates (38g vs ~60g). It could have been the lower CHO, but I felt that beef sitting in my stomach all day, so maybe that was it.
