Winding down 2012

As I check my stats, I can see I’m close to hitting a couple milestones. I’ll spend the next couple weeks of the year working on easy efforts with an eye toward surpassing the following milestones:

  • 6,000 miles of cycling - I’m only 170 miles away, so it should be no problem commuting by bike and spinning a couple hours on the CompuTrainer to hit that goal.
  • 100,000 meters of swimming - this would be a HUGE milestone. I’ve never come anywhere close to that milestone. I guess my early season swims paid off. Only 1,800 meters to go to hit this goal. I should be able to make that in one or two swim sessions.
I also did pretty good on my goals for 2012, especially in the nutrition department. I’m really glad I got pushed toward “Metabolic Efficiency” and Paleo diets. Although I haven’t been strict Paleo, I definitely moved pretty close to that model, and it also paid great dividends. I’m down to under 135 lbs without any effort at all. I think I’ll shoot for sub-130 as a racing weight for 2013.
I’ll publish a more detailed 2012 retrospective at the end of the year. But at this point, I’m very much on track for great results even including my car vs bike setbacks.
