Lap Swim - 1mile with fins

Posted by Brad Hefta-Gaub under: Swim.

I recently purchased a set of swim fins based on the advice of the guys at Speedy Reedy. Why? The theory is that swim fins force you to move more water, therefore they add resistance, and make your legs work hard, and grow stronger.

I decided to wear them for a typical “1 mile” swim. I definitely felt a difference. Sure, I swam faster, but I also could feel the extra effort my legs put in.

I did 1 mile/1800yards with fins, then took them off for the next 600 yards.

Splits (with fins): 1:43, 1:53, 1:52, 1:49, 1:52, 1:54, 1:54, 1:54, 1:46, 1:55, 1:49, 1:53, 1:52, 1:54, 1:51, 1:48, 1:53, 1:54

Splits (without fins): 1:58, 1:58, 1:58, 1:58, 1:55, 1:55
