Saying Hello to Lake Hefner
Posted by Brad Hefta-Gaub under: Swim.
Pre Ironman race, I always like to get in the body of water I’m going to swim in to say hello and ask permission to swim and have a good race. Not really a workout, but activity none the less.
The lake is warm enough, but not too warm. The “run” between the water and the transition area will be fine… the sand/ground is not too rocky and somewhat soft, not too muddy.
My only concern, if there is any, is that the water is very silty and so visibility is less than 2 feet… I can barely see my hands at the end of my arms. This doesn’t bother me at all… except that it will make “following a pacer” very hard if not impossible. So I may be on my own for swimming straight. Hopefully, if I have plenty of swimmers to choose from, I’ll find someone I can hitch a ride with.

Smart move to check out the swim and transitions ahead of time.
