Slow Run to Buy Shoes
Posted by Brad Hefta-Gaub under: Run.
As my recovery run today I decided to strap on my “shopping pack” and run to Super Jock and Jill to buy some new running shoes. My plan was to buy some technical trail running shoes, and a new pair of my favorite street shoes.
The good news is, I got a new pair of Brooks Defyance. The bad news is that Super Jock and Jill doesn’t carry the Brooks Cascadia, which was rated editors choice for the 2009 spring trail running lineup by Runner’s World. Instead of settling for the Adrenaline ASR, I took the advice of the sales clerk and will be heading over to Seattle Running Company to go shopping for real technical shoes.
The run was slow and painful. But it was good to move the legs.

Nice run after that long trail run! Let us know how the new Defyance are. Assuming you got the new ones of course. I rotate between Glycerin 6 and the first Defyance (lime). Love them both! I want to get a pair of Ghost for 10K or less/tempo and use Defyance for Half and full Marathons and continue with Glycerin for base miles. I’m addicted to cushy shoes for everyday but like the ride of the Defyance for races.

Yes, I did get a new pair of the Defyance 2’s… I’ve been running in the original Defyance (lime ones) for my last 3 pairs of shoes and I really like them.
I can tell the Defyance 2 is different from the original, the toe box looks very different. But I haven’t yet run in them. I might run in them today, but since I’m still so sore (worse than yesterday) I won’t use it as a judge.
