Single Speed Commute
Posted by Brad Hefta-Gaub under: Cycle; commute; single-speed.
I’ve officially decided that riding my single speed in free-wheel setup is BORING! I had it set up this way this weekend so that I could pull my kids on the half bike and not kill my legs… Well, when you’re riding with a group of inexperienced (slowish) riders, that’s fine… but when I want to ride my bike, I need speed, and I need resistance… and this ridiculously small gear is just LAME.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have a wrench with me to flip the hub!
Note: This is Tyler’s wheel… and it is a wimpy little gear… that only a boy-man like him could enjoy.

I know what you mean. (about single speed Vs fixed - not Tyler being a )
I actually think that over known terrain, fixed-wheel is faster than single-speed or geared, and have been meaning to do a set of time-trials to prove it one way or the other. Ever tried this yourself?
