Three Rides with some of my favorite people… (Ride 2)
After getting home from my 50 miler on my fixie, I went to a ride with my sister. Now an important fact I failed to mention on my last post is that I got a flat in my front tire, but it was a strange slow leak without an obvious hole, so I decided to simply replace the tube when I got home… and I also figured I’d put on my new (used) tire since the one on the bike was very worn out. But in the process of putting on the new tube, I got a flat in that. Well, I guess this is one advantage to owning 5 bikes… if you don’t want to or have time to fix one of them, you can just grab a new one and go for a ride. So I grabbed bike #1 (as in the first one I bought) and headed out with my sister.
Her goal was 20 miles… it would be the longest ride she’s ever done… As we rolled out onto the trail I heard a strange POP and she heard what she thought was a piece of metal hitting the ground. I was certain that I’d broken a spoke, but when I looked at my wheels everything seemed ok. So we rolled on. I made it maybe a quart of a mile before I noticed that my back wheel was wobbling like crazy… I mean CRAZY. Yep, I broke a spoke.
Pit stop at Recycled Cycles to get the spoke fixed… they did it real quick and we were back on the road.
It was really hot by this time of the day, and Sis made it about 9 miles out before she decided she’d had enough. So we headed home.
It was a great ride for her, and I’m glad I was able to support her in her most recent accomplishment.
