Run by myself, before dinner

Ok, so I have been slacking completely on the workouts. I’ve been so busy with work that I’m finding it hard to find time to work out…. which is particularly ironic when you consider that work is Sweat365…

I haven’t been running, or swimming, and rarely riding my bike. Sure, I can still drop 70 miles on my fixed gear bike and not be sore… but I’m a long ways away from my top physical condition of a couple years ago… So, it’s time to get serious again… and running more than once every other week is going to be part of the plan.

So today, I did another 5 mile run. This time without Tyler there to tell me how much his stomach hurt or how much he wanted to barf… That meant I was able to run faster and focus on my pace.

Workout:

  • Type: Run
  • Date: 06/17/2008
  • Time: 23:26:13
  • Total Time: 00:37:42.50
  • Average Heart rate: 165
  • Max Heart rate: 203
  • Distance: 5 miles
  • Average Pace: 7:32.26/mile

I don’t really believe my max or average heart rate…. but that’s what the Polar says…

Here are the splits:

Mile 1: 7:34 - 160 average
Mile 2: 7:05 - 172 average
Mile 3: 7:05 - 161 average
Mile 4: 7:47 - 166 average
Mile 5: 8:06 - 167 average

Not happy with last two miles being the slowest… but it’s just more proof that I’m off my game. The solution… Duh… more work, more consistently!

Keep plugging away Brad, you have an awesome base and will be back where you want to be with consistency!

Yeah, so you slowed down a bit at the end. But the pace is still pretty quick - looks to me like you just got a little over-confident with miles 2 & 3. A case of run slower to go faster next time?

Glad to see you’re getting back at it. Looking at those split times, it doesn’t appear that you have lost much speed. Great job. The way I look at it is that when you slack, you become less productive at work. So get out there!!
