Run with Tyler

So this was a basic slow run with Tyler after lifting… I need to get out and run on my own again, but keeping running with Tyler on odd days will help me do some “base work” as he’s hard efforts tend to be a nice mellow run for me.

We started out slow… I admit I wasn’t feeling it… I had had an early dinner, but seemed to be feeling like a brick in my stomach even though it was a couple hours later. The first half of the run Tyler kept talking smack about how slow we were running and how he really wanted to kick on the second half.

So at the turn around point, I said… “Ok, let’s start running!”

And it turns out that I ended up running out at about a 6:45/mile pace from there. I thought I was running more like 8mins… but when I blew past the half mile mark in just over 3:20 I knew I was probably blowing Tyler apart. Sure enough he was about 200 yards behind me dragging. I tried to slow down but he couldn’t seem to catch up. Finally I decided to run out to the 1 mile from home point and then turn around for him there. I clocked 1 mile at 7:30 and then turned around and ran with T as he came across about 44 seconds behind me… so Really it was a pretty good pace for him.

We finished the last mile around 8:20-8:30.

Good run…. considering the start.

Me in 2002 - 200lbsThis is my fitness blog. Some people who knew me a long time ago may wonder, what the heck I'm doing writing a blog about fitness. Many of them wouldn't imagine that I'd have anything to do with fitness. You see, up until age 34, I treated my body very poorly. I sat around at home, at work, at play. I ate junk food and lots of it. And the result was what you'd expect 5'4" and 200 lbs with 36% body fat. (more...)
