Pilates

I guess pilates class with my wife is going to become a regular thing. I am enjoying it more than I enjoyed yoga… and it is certainly challenging me in my flexibility and more core strength. I wish I knew more of the specific exercises so that I could do them as “smoothly” as the class regulars.

Pilates is wonderful, I usually can’t make the class at my gym but I have some in home dvd’s I do, I like to the mix of yoga and pilates, the yolates its a great workout!

I am doing the tri in Grand Haven on July 13th. So far the training is going well as far as the biking and running are concerned, the swimming was a little more difficult then I had planned. Not that I couldn’t do it, it just really tired me out…any tips? Additionally, since this is my first are there any things I should know in advance to help get me through it?

Zumba…its a cardio dance, you can check it out at zumba.com, I used to do competitive back in high school, so its fun to be able to get back into it again!

I don’t know how to navigate my through all these buttons so i’m just leaving u a message on here. My main event is on July 26, 2008, Heart O’Dixie Triathlon right here in philadelphia, MS and their is also 2 more before than but i’m not sure if i will be ready for it. My training is improving, I’ve been training for about 2 months just found this site the other day, now i am able to log my activities. My swimming needs a lot of help. I have just got comfortable with the water again. I did not know how to swim till last summer when i finally decided to take swimming lessons at 28, by the end of the summer i finally learned how but i took it again during the fall semester and after that i hadn’t swam till the new gym opened up with a pool and i’ve going ever since. the first two weeks was re-learning everything on my own and trying to dig back into my brain about all the stuff i learned. I guess I will have to find a way to improve. The other thing is getting a bike for the tri, suggestions are welcome, max i can spend is 300 or fix up the mountain bike i have, since you have been in the event before maybe u can give me some ideas.

Hello! I’m training for the Mesa Falls 1/2 Marathon in Idaho. I ran the Wasatch Back, in the Ragnar Series last year…my leg was about 16 miles…but it was broken up into 3 different portions of the race…so running a half marathon, all together, all the miles at the same time will be a new challenge. But I’m excited to get started and see what I can do. I just started training this week…the race is in August. Thanks for the encouraging comments!

Me in 2002 - 200lbsThis is my fitness blog. Some people who knew me a long time ago may wonder, what the heck I'm doing writing a blog about fitness. Many of them wouldn't imagine that I'd have anything to do with fitness. You see, up until age 34, I treated my body very poorly. I sat around at home, at work, at play. I ate junk food and lots of it. And the result was what you'd expect 5'4" and 200 lbs with 36% body fat. (more...)
