Six Pack Abs in only Six Weeks?

Six Pack AbsSeriously… that’s the email I just got from a health magazine from a reputable publisher. I’m almost tempted to take the challenge and document the process just to expose the program/publisher for the shame that they are. Mind you, I’ve definitely had a down week as far as exercise goes. And my diet, although not disastrous, hasn’t exactly been the healthiest it could be.Here’s just a taste of what the spam email promises…

…today’s diets are simply ridiculous. They’re restrictive (No carbs!). They’re possibly unhealthy (Eat all the saturated fats you want!). They’re confusing (How many points does this food group total?). They’re tedious (Which phase am I in now?). And they’re completely unrealistic (What the heck do I do after I’m off the plan).

Hmmm… ok, so these guys have a diet for me that will give me six pack abs in only six weeks and it is not ‘restrictive’, ‘unhealthy’, ‘confusing’, ‘tedious’, and most of all… it’s NOT ‘completely unrealistic’. WOW! I gotta get me some of that.

Not convinced… wait… there’s more. It’s scientifically proven! And in the first 2 weeks, I’m gonna lose 12 pounds of fat… from my belly! I’ll even convert fat to muscle with only 30 minutes of exercise 3 times a week. DOUBLE WOW! Apparently this is a plan that “anyone can stick to“.

This is unbelievable… I have to have this right? How much will it cost me? Absolutely nothing… yep… for 21 days, I can have the entire package an 80 page book, 2 DVDs, and a whole bunch of other stuff absolutely free! If I’m not completely satisfied I can return it for free. Otherwise… I’ll ACTUALLY SAVE $20 by keeping it! Wowweee!

But after 21 day… “I’ll pay for it in 4 installments of $9.99 each, plus shipping and handling.” Huh? That’s it? Are you sure I won’t be paying for it with the frustration of only having these?

What my six pack abs really look like!

So…when you sign up do they supply you with leaches and a scalpel? I figure you could drain blood to lose weight and they use your do-it-yourself carving tool to sculpt-your-own.

Really, if this doesn’t require that you take some scary “supplement”, I encourage you to take on the challenge just to prove the point. Then again, that might put your already healthy self into a bad place. Hmmm…tough call. Do love the photo!

good post Brad! you have to love the fitness industry and their advertising. on the other side i have been amazed by how a total life change and some really hard work can net some amazing results in as little as six weeks. the human body is such an efficiant machine when properly tuned. i think these ads are more focused on seperateing your money from your wallet rather than fat from your body. not sure taking the challenge would exactly prove them wrong. Ha!

Me in 2002 - 200lbsThis is my fitness blog. Some people who knew me a long time ago may wonder, what the heck I'm doing writing a blog about fitness. Many of them wouldn't imagine that I'd have anything to do with fitness. You see, up until age 34, I treated my body very poorly. I sat around at home, at work, at play. I ate junk food and lots of it. And the result was what you'd expect 5'4" and 200 lbs with 36% body fat. (more...)
