Fixed Gear Bike Build
I finished it! And oh yeah… I like it! This bike is just too cool. In fact, it not only looks cool, but it rides real purdy too. The jury was split on the reasonableness of fixing this old skool time trial bike. But even the Nay-Sayers at Speedy Reedy agree that this bike is cool looking, and it rides “really nice once you made the mods you made”. So without further ado, here are the pix…
First… the original…
Now… fixed…
And the red chain from the side…
The obligatory drive train photo that is a must for all fixie conversions…
And one more beautiful shot from the side. Ain’t she purdy!

This is almost without a shadow of a doubt the most insane looking bike I’ve seen this week. How was the test ride? And have you submitted to the Fixed Gear Gallery?

Cool…kickin’ it old skool baby. I especially like the upgrade to white and yellow bar tape- gives the whole thing a maniacly cheerful look.
How much fun is this whole fixed-gear thing (I confess I’ve never tried it)? Is it worth switching my current bike over to a fixed gear and using it to commute after I buy a new bike in the spring?

Cardano - doooo it, dooo it! It feels really weird and not a little scary to begin with, but very quickly it becomes the only way you want to ride.

[...] My legs are pretty sore after my Marathon yesterday. Of course, that is to be expected, especially when you consider that I sat around on an airplane for 3 hours to get home from Vegas. The best thing I could do today for recovery was to do some very light spinning on my indoor trainer. The very best bike I could use for this, would be my new wicked cool fixie. [...]
